SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS
Beaford Community Primary & Nursery Academy school ensures that the necessary provision is made for any pupil who has special educational needs or disabilities. The school ensures that all staff in the school are able to identify and provide appropriately for those pupils who have special educational needs to ensure they reach their full potential, are fully included within the school community and are able to make successful transfers between educational establishments.

SEND review: right support, right place, right time
The Department for Education and Department of Health and Social Care are seeking views on their green paper about the changes they want to make to the special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and alternative provision (AP) system in England.
This consultation closes at 11:45pm on 22 July 2022
Consultation description
The government is committed to improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND and those in alternative provision.
To achieve this ambition they would like to work with and hear from:
- children and young people
- parents and carers
- those who advocate and work with the SEND sector
- local and national system leaders
You are encouraged to consider the proposals set out in this green paper and respond to the consultation.
Together, we can ensure every child and young person with SEND and those in alternative provision can thrive and be well prepared for adult life.

Multi Agency Early Help Offer - The Child's Journey
Devon SEND local offer and vision
Signposting: Support for children with Autism 2 - 5 Years.
Action for Children support the Incredible Years Programme.
This is a group intervention of 12–16 sessions and is offered to parents of young children, developmental aged 2-5 and on the Autism spectrum or Pathway to diagnosis and promotes children's emotional regulation, social competence, language skills, school readiness, and relationships with others.

In typical times these courses are often run within the Children's centres around the county.
Parents can also get information from Children and Families Health Devon. This also includes a Facebook support group
Additional Support
Further support and advice for parents can be accessed from Independent Information Advice and Support services, including Devon Parent Partnership (DPP). These are able to provide impartial and independent advice, support and information on special educational needs and disabilities.
Parents/carers are also encouraged to visit the Devon County Council Local Offer website www.devon.gov.uk/send. This website provides valuable information about different agencies, services and resources for children, young people with SEND and their families in addition to school resources and information.
