Otters Learning ~ 8th December

Otters have done very well this week keeping focused on their learning while there are so many exciting events and activities going on! We have been lucky enough to go and see the Ladybirds Christmas performance at the church on Wednesday. We have of course been busy preparing for our own Christmas performance and Thursday was completely taken up with this. We have managed to keep working hard in between all of this, with a special push this week on our grammar knowledge. To help the children learn the different word classes (noun, verb, adjective, adverb, preposition and determiner) we made "human sentences". Each child was a word or a word class and we all had fun making a whole sentence and matching the different words with their classes.
We have also started our quiz of the term activity, when we think hard about the learning we have done this year so far and make quizzes. This activity is an excellent way for us to review and remember our learning, especially when the school year moves on so quickly and it is easy to forget some of what we have learned.
In maths we have a short sequence about area before continuing with our multiplication focus next year. In writing we have been learning how to write instructions.
Well done Otters for another excellent week and we look forward to one more week of school before a well-deserved break!
