Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you for your support during parent consultations this week. It is always lovely to share the children’s achievements, particularly so early in the school year, and to celebrate how well they are settling into their new classes. Good communication between home and school is so important. By working together and sharing information, we can build a clear picture of each child’s needs, celebrate their successes and make sure they receive the support they need to flourish.
For parents of children with additional needs, you can also book a meeting with our SENCO, Kate Ashley, to discuss your child’s support plan. Please look out for the Google Form that was sent to you this week.
Pumpkin Carving Competition
Our annual pumpkin carving competition was a huge success this week! The entries were absolutely incredible, and the creativity and hard work that went into them gave us a wonderful display of pumpkin art and a very difficult judging process. It was lovely to see the results of so much family time spent creating these designs together.
Our school ambassadors helped me to shortlist entries from each class before I chose the eventual winners. Thank you to everyone who took part. We were amazed by the effort and imagination on display!
This Week
Unfortunately, Ms Baugh was unwell this week, which meant we had to call on some familiar faces to help cover Reception. Jane has been a mainstay throughout the week, with Cheryl supporting at the beginning of the week, and Zoe and Mr Northmore returning to Beaford temporarily to cover the class on Thursday and Friday respectively.
We ended the half-term on a real high with a fantastic assembly from Owls about the transatlantic slave trade. The children showcased their learning across the curriculum, teaching the rest of the school about the horrors of the slave trade and Britain's role in its abolition. They approached this important and challenging topic thoughtfully and confidently, and I was incredibly proud of what they shared.
After Half-Term
Halloween Disco
Our Halloween disco takes place a little later than usual, on Friday 6th November at Beaford Village Hall, from 5.30pm to 7pm. Think of it as an opportunity to get a little extra value out of your Halloween costume! We hope lots of children will be able to join us for an evening of fun. All funds raised will go to the Friends of Beaford, helping us to provide additional opportunities and experiences for the children.
Christmas Fair Planning
We are beginning preparations for our Christmas fair and would love as much support as possible. If you are able to help, please come along to the planning meeting on Tuesday 10th November at 9am in school.
If you would like to volunteer but cannot attend the meeting in person, please let Sam, Ellie or Sally know so they can allocate you a role. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated and makes a real difference to the events and opportunities we can provide for the children.
I hope you all have a lovely half-term break and enjoy some well-deserved time together. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another busy half-term.
