EYFS Class Teacher
Part time, fixed term (Maternity cover)
Start Date: estimated January or February 2021
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, flexible, forward thinking practitioner to share responsibility for our Nursery and Reception class in our vibrant and innovative primary and nursery school. This post is to provide maternity cover and is an exciting opportunity for an excellent teacher to put their skills into practice and contribute to the development of our friendly village school. The successful candidate will take shared responsibility for teaching Reception in our school and will work alongside an experienced EYFS teacher, a Foundation Stage Supervisor and an Early Years Practitioner to plan for and meet the needs and interests of a mixed Reception and Nursery class. We can offer flexibility in the setting of the work pattern for this role and will consider a 0.4, 0.5 or 0.6 commitment which must include Thursday and Friday.
Beaford Primary Community and Nursery School is an excellent rural community school, where emphasis is placed on supporting the whole child through every aspect of development. In our EYFS setting we recognise that every child is unique, with varied interests and stages of development. We aim to build positive relationships between both adults and children through respectful and caring interactions. Our Reception curriculum is designed to enable children to develop the characteristics of effective learning. Our curriculum balances the need to teach children new skills and concepts alongside the knowledge that children are motivated to learn through child initiated activities and purposeful play. The daily structure allows for long periods of uninterrupted learning through play and provides short periods of adult directed, adult initiated learning.
An understanding of principles of effective practice, a reflective but dynamic approach, good communication skills and a passion for making a difference for all children are essential requirements for this post.
This role requires a DBS disclosure. This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
