I have worked in local government for 23 years, currently in the employment of Torridge District Council as an Environmental Protection Officer.

I have two sons who attend Beaford Community Primary and Nursery School and, since their admission, have watched and experienced their impressive development assisted in the main by the attentive and caring nature of the teaching staff.  I have a very keen interest to ensure the school continues to deliver high standards of education in a caring and supportive environment. As well as being keen to promote a good education to all children, I also recognise the need to have and participate in activities and interests outside of the school environment.  For example, my sons attend swimming lessons and show a general interest in sport.  Recently as a family we participated in a charity run raising a significant amount of money in the process.

Term of office ends 18/11/2019

No roles assigned

I have experience of working for a finance broker which required an understanding of company finances and an  element of risk analysis to ensure all information provided was accurate and correct. I was also the manager of my department so I was responsible for the team working with me. This provided me with valuable knowledge and experience to which I can put to good use as a school governor.

I currently work for the family farm where I am responsible for managing the bank account and I volunteer at Beaford school to assist the pupils with their reading skills. I frequently assist with and partake in PTA fundraising events.

As a Mum to a child starting education, I wanted to be involved in school life somehow.  Governors felt the right way to go, as I work as an Accountant in a large food manufacturing company and I felt I could bring these skills to the board.  However, I feel being a Governor at Beaford School has certainly taught me more than I could ever bring to them!!

Having worked at Beaford since 2012 I am firmly committed to ensuring that every child receives the very best, rich and inspiring curriculum possible. My new role allows me to use this passion to support the school in having a greater positive impact on the future of every child.

As staff governor I am looking forward to the challenges ahead and working together with the wonderfully dedicated team of governors here at Beaford.

I am a Mum to 2 children, a boy and girl, both attending Beaford. They have both benefitted from a great start to their education and I feel a responsibility in making sure Beaford continues to be the great school that it already is.  I have lived in the local area all my life and attended Beaford school as a child so have good knowledge of the surrounding villages and towns which feed into Beaford and know many families within the school both past and present

As a qualified primary teacher, I feel I have knowledge and understanding of the curriculum and expectations put on pupils and staff and will be able to bring this knowledge and understanding to the role of parent governor. I have been teaching for 12 years across North Devon in a variety of schools and have particular knowledge of the Early Years and KS1 curriculum.

I moved to Beaford just over a year ago. The main reason we chose this village was the excellent nursery and primary school.

I have taught in London and the south east for over 15 years and have taken a break to bring up my sons. I have had experience of city centre and suburban education and I have worked alongside diverse communities both within the class room and wider society. I am committed to the values of learner centric education and I feel this is a great strength at Beaford School.

I am pleased to be a governor and to help to support the fantastic teaching practice that is delivered at Beaford every day. I know that my sons feel valued, that they achieve and always want to go to school. I passionately wish to help maintain this this kind of educational environment for my boys and all the Beaford learners.
