Primary and Nursery School
Beaford, Winkleigh, Devon EX19 8LJ
Parents are welcomed into the school on a daily basis and we encourage you to share in your child’s learning journey. If you have any concerns or just want to see how your child is getting on at any time please make an appointment to see the class teacher. We have an ‘open door’ policy and welcome parents throughout the year.
Each term there is a sharing assembly where children show their work and experiences.
In the Autumn term there are open sessions where you can visit your child’s class, see how they are settling in and make an appointment with the class teacher.
In the spring or summer you will receive your child’s annual report and have opportunity to meet with the class teacher to discuss your child’s progress. As well as your child’s annual report you will receive a Progress Report in December and July – this will inform you of your child’s progress and effort in reading, writing and maths.
At the end of Reception, Year 2 and Year 6 the school will report to you the outcomes of formal assessments.
Parents of children in Reception will be invited to a workshop in September to find out how they can help their child at home with reading and phonics. In November and July your child’s Learning Journey portfolio will be sent home for you to share with your child and we welcome comments and feedback. Following this their will be an opportunity to meet the teacher and find out how your child is progressing against the Early Learning Goals.
Nursery Parents are invited each term to an open morning to share in their child’s learning.
