 Responsibilities:Designated Safeguarding Lead, Key Adult for Operation Encompass, Nominated lead for Children in Care

Experience: I have been headteacher of Beaford Community Nursery and Primary School since September 2006. Prior to this I had a number of senior leadership roles including Deputy Head of a Devon Junior school and a Literacy Lead teacher. I undertake work for the local authority as part of the 'Excellence for All' strategy which involves undertaking evaluation visits of other schools and I am also deployed by the North Devon Teaching School Alliance to support School Improvement of schools in the locality. I have an interest and passion for curriculum and how learning opportunities can be provided that are themed, linked and creative.

Business Manager

Helen Wright - Business Manager and Clerk to Governors

Qualifications:  

HND Business & Finance

Certificate in School Business Management

Responsibilities:  School finance and budgeting, personnel, Health and Safety Coordinator, site maintenance and security, clerk to governors

Experience: I have been the school’s Business Manager since 2007. Prior to this I was a project manager in the MOD.

I have provided administration, finance and leadership support to staff in other schools.

Liesa Cannon - KS2 Teacher

Specialist Leader of Education (SLE)

Responsibilities: A member of the Senior Leadership Team with responsibility for leading literacy across the school. I am also a member of the Humanities team, a school governor and a tutor for PGCE students from the University of Exeter.

 Experience: I have been deployed providing ‘Teaching and Learning’ support to other schools in the role as a Specialist Leader of Education (SLE) designated by the North Devon Teaching School Alliance since 2014. In 2015, I took part in a Local Authority maths project to explore the teaching of Maths in mixed aged classes.

Emily Mayo - Teacher

Responsibilities: I am a member of the Senior Leadership Team with responsibility for leading mathematics across the school. I am also a member of the Science team and the deputy designated safeguarding lead. I have responsibility for mentoring Newly Qualified Teachers within the school and am a mentor for student teachers on placement from Exeter University.

Experience: I have been deployed providing ‘Teaching and Learning’ support to other schools in the role as a Specialist Leader of Education (SLE) designated by the North Devon Teaching School Alliance since 2015. I worked alongside the  Babcock Maths Team as a Maths Lead teacher through 2015 and 2016, supporting teachers to explore new ideas and to think deeply about the learning in their classes.  In 2016 I took part in a Local Authority maths project to explore the teaching of Maths in mixed aged classes, and am currently exploring the impact of pre teaching and assigning competence in maths lessons. I am also leading a project within school, alongside Birkbeck University and UCL, looking at methods to support learners to access deep thinking when tackling mathematical problems.

 

Zoe Toop - KS2 Teacher

 

 

Qualifications:

BEd (Hons) Primary Education, specialising in English, from the University of St Mark and St John.

Experience: Before I trained to become a teacher, I was a volunteer netball coach, coaching children between the ages of 7 and 14. This allowed me to combine my interests of sport and working with children.

At university, I was able to take part in a writing project, where I learned a range of strategies for teaching and learning writing which I hope to use in my own practice.

I also chose to complete a placement at a local Special School, which I really enjoyed, and taught me different strategies that I can use in my practice teaching in a mainstream school.

Sue Tudge - Early Years Foundation Stage
Ceri Moore - KS1 Teacher

Qualifications:

BEd Primary with Music Specialism from Plymouth University.

Responsibilities: I am a member of the Arts Team and I lead on singing and performance across the school. I am a tutor for students from Exeter University.

Experience:  I have successfully led the school to achieve a Gold Sing Up Award. I have provided support to Key Stage 1 teacher in other schools in 2015. I took part in a Local Authority research project for teaching mastery in maths in mixed aged classes and I am currently part of a project exploring the use of Pre Teaching to support learning in maths.

Early Years Practitioner

Rachel Sharpe - Senior Early Years Practitioner

Qualifications:

NVQ level 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development

Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies

Responsibilities: Paediatric first aid, lead early years practitioner

Experience: 13 years of working in the early years profession, including pre-schools, Primary schools and nurseries. Specialising in learning through play - attending short courses to support teaching in the early years, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.   Foundation level in Total Communication. Participated in the Leonardo Mobility funded programme - Susa, Turin, Rivoli Education Travel for childhood. Working in nursery and primary schools in Italy. Attending South West foundation stage conferences, listening to lead Early Years professionals, speakers and authors.
